DESCRIPTION
Art can often take us outside ourselves, beyond our everyday concertns. In The Art of Worship, the Reverend Nicholas Holtam presents his favourite paintings from the National Gallery alongside selected prayers, poems and quotations. His thoughtful and often highly personal observations encourage private prayer, contemplation and meditation.
A unique collaboration between the National Gallery and St Martin-in-the-Fields, this companion CD to The Art of Worship features sung settings of some of the prayers in the book by a wide range of twentieth and twenty-first century composers, including some recorded for the first time. From the joyfully uplifting to the sublimely serene, this is music to refresh the soul.
