This panel is based upon sections of the Aberlemno and Rossie Priory stone crosses, both of which were sculpted by the Pics in the eighth century.

The name 'Pict appears in the classical writers for the first time towards the end of the third  century. It has ofted been taken to mean 'painted' referring to the Pictish custom of tattooing. The Aberlemno and Rossie Priory stones both display fairly low relief sculpture and tend to be associated with ecclesiastical sites. the interlacing design of the cross is formed by one continuous line, highlighting the Picts skill as craftsmen

There is a small hole in the back of the panel allowing it to be hung from the wall, it may also be used as a coaster of paperweight

15cm x 15cm
